OHIO CLEVELAND SOMALI Town”
Last weekend, I had the chance to visit SARAGA MART in Cleveland, Ohio, and discovered the Somali Community Shopping Center inside. This space is much more than a regular market—it’s a vibrant hub where you can experience the daily life and culture of the Somali community.

Diverse Shops in the Shopping Center
Inside SARAGA MART, you’ll find a variety of stores that give the feel of a true community shopping center:
- Household & Grocery Stores: A wide selection of Somali household items, spices, and everyday essentials are available, making it easy to explore products used in local homes.
- Clothing & Accessories Shops: Bright and colorful traditional Somali clothing and accessories are on display and for sale, offering visitors a chance to see authentic cultural fashion.
- Cultural Goods Stores: From handmade crafts to decorative items and books about Somali culture, these shops provide a deeper cultural experience beyond shopping.
A Lively Community Atmosphere
The shopping center is filled with friendly interactions between shop owners and visitors. Bulletin boards, event posters, and community notices give insights into local events and gatherings. Walking through the center, you can really feel the energy of the Somali community and the strong sense of connection among its members.
