Building Lives Together, Serving with Heart
1. A Foundation of Diligence
In the late 1980s, John Sung began his journey from a modest truck, delivering more than groceries—he delivered a lifeline to immigrant families. His early days of driving through the snow-swept roads of the Midwest defined a legacy of sincere and steady devotion.
2. The Promise of "Saraga"
In 1994, he founded Saraga, derived from the Korean word Saragada (살아가다)—meaning "to build a life." It was a solemn vow to provide the comfort and cultural tools necessary for families to truly thrive in a new land.
3. People Over Profit
Since rooting in Columbus in 2013, John has prioritized community over corporate gain. By curating flavors from over 50 countries, he created a sanctuary where every neighbor can find a taste of home and preserve their identity with pride.
4. Leading with Humility
Today, you can still find John personally greeting customers in the aisles every morning. His philosophy remains the heartbeat of Saraga: "Our role is not merely to sell a product; it is to serve our neighbors so their lives may be abundant."
